Mouse Aspa qPCR Primer Set – aspartoacylase
Also known as: Acy-2, Acy2, nur7
About this gene: Aspa encodes a enzyme that deacteylates N-acetyl-L-aspartic acid in the brain to yield acetate and L-aspartate. In humans, alterations in neuronal NAA concentration are linked to many neurodegenerative diseases (decrease linked to epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, myotrophic lateral sclerosis, and Alzheimer's disease; increase linked to Canavan disease). In mouse, mutations in Aspa, which cause accumulation of NAA, result in demyelination and spongy degeneration in the CNS and serve as a pathophysiological model for Canavan disease.
Gene details: NCBI Gene ID: 11484; UniProt: Q8R3P0; Chromosome location: 11 B4|11 45.28 cM
What you get: Primers are provided as a 40 µl solution containing both primers at a final concentration of 50 µM in 10 mM Tris-HCl (pH 7.5), 0.1 mM EDTA. Dilute with H2O as needed prior to use. This amount is sufficient for 1,000 PCR reactions of 20 µl, assuming a final primer concentration of 0.1 µM.
