Human PFKFB3 qPCR Primer Set – 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-biphosphatase 3

Also known as: IPFK2, PFK2, iPFK-2

About this gene: The PFKFB3 protein belongs to a family of bifunctional proteins that are involved in both the synthesis and degradation of fructose-2,6-bisphosphate, a regulatory molecule that controls glycolysis in eukaryotes. The PFKFB3 protein has a 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase activity that catalyzes the synthesis of fructose-2,6-bisphosphate, and a fructose-2,6-biphosphatase activity that catalyzes the degradation of F2,6BP. This protein is required for cell cycle progression and prevention of apoptosis. The PFKFB3 gene product acts as a regulator of cyclin-dependent kinase 1, linking glucose metabolism to cell proliferation and survival in tumor cells.

Gene details: NCBI Gene ID: 5209; HGNC ID: HGNC:8874; UniProt: Q16875; RefSeq (MANE Select): NM_004566.4; Chromosome location: 10p15.1

What you get: Primers are provided as a 40 µl solution containing both primers at a final concentration of 50 µM in 10 mM Tris-HCl (pH 7.5), 0.1 mM EDTA. Dilute with H2O as needed prior to use. This amount is sufficient for 1,000 PCR reactions of 20 µl, assuming a final primer concentration of 0.1 µM.
