Product Description

SYBR Green qPCR primers for detecting human ASIP (agouti signaling protein, also called ASP) gene expression by real-time PCR.

Human ASIP qPCR Primer Set – agouti signaling protein

Also known as: AGSW, AGTI, AGTIL, ASP, SHEP9

About this gene: In mice, the agouti gene encodes a paracrine signaling molecule that causes hair follicle melanocytes to synthesize pheomelanin, a yellow pigment, instead of the black or brown pigment, eumelanin. Pleiotropic effects of constitutive expression of the mouse gene include adult-onset obesity, increased tumor susceptibility, and premature infertility. ASIP is highly similar to the mouse gene and encodes a secreted protein that may affect the quality of hair pigmentation, act as a pharmacological antagonist of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, play a role in neuroendocrine aspects of melanocortin action.

Gene details: NCBI Gene ID: 434; HGNC ID: HGNC:745; UniProt: P42127; RefSeq (MANE Select): NM_001672.3; Chromosome location: 20q11.22

What you get: Primers are provided as a 40 µl solution containing both primers at a final concentration of 50 µM in 10 mM Tris-HCl (pH 7.5), 0.1 mM EDTA. Dilute with H2O as needed prior to use. This amount is sufficient for 1,000 PCR reactions of 20 µl, assuming a final primer concentration of 0.1 µM.
