About this gene: NANS encodes a enzyme that functions in the biosynthetic pathways of sialic acids. In vitro, the NANS protein uses N-acetylmannosamine 6-phosphate and mannose 6-phosphate as substrates to generate phosphorylated forms of N-acetylneuraminic acid and 2-keto-3-deoxy-D-glycero-D-galacto-nononic acid, respectively; however, it exhibits much higher activity toward the Neu5Ac phosphate product. In insect cells, expression of NANS leads to Neu5Ac and KDN production.

What you get: Primers are provided as a 40 µl solution containing both primers at a final concentration of 50 µM in 10 mM Tris-HCl (pH 7.5), 0.1 mM EDTA. Dilute with H2O as needed prior to use. This amount is sufficient for 1,000 PCR reactions of 20 µl, assuming a final primer concentration of 0.1 µM.
